About Me

From the age of 2, my love for the water began. I was lucky enough to grow up in Newport on the northern beaches. At the age of 5, I started Nippers at Avalon beach, where my passion grew for open water swimming.

But before I could jump on in, my dad was insistent that if I wanted to follow my passion, the grind needed to start in a pool. So that's what happened at the age of 7. I was in an ocean squad training group, five mornings and four afternoons plus competition and nippers .. it was tough but if my mum and dad made the effort, I would too.

I stayed with Avalon surf club until I started high school, where I transferred over to Newport beach surf club until I finished high school, spending most of my weekends on patrol or developing my surf skills.

By the time I finished school, I didn't continue with squad training; however, I loved swimming and still trained myself with the many years of knowledge from some of the best coaches.

At the age of 21 with my ocean skill toolkit, I had the opportunity to head over on a paid gig to Long Beach Island, New Jersey, working on the beach educating surf awareness and saving lives I loved it so much I went over again when I was 23.

At 24, I knew that I wanted to teach/coach swimming, I wanted people to have the same opportunity as I felt about the ocean, confidence, safe, and free, there is no better feeling. I also wanted to be in the fitness industry, so I became qualified in both industries.

My level of teaching /coaching has been diverse, from babies to learn to swim both children and adults.

I then moved on to coaching individuals in open water technique as well as triathletes both beginner and advanced. I also coached those with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities.

Combining both my love for swimming and fitness and over 20 years of experience, I have a passion to share my love for the ocean and take great pleasure in educating others in surf awareness. I encourage the public to take part in ocean ready sessions to increase their confidence, strength, and fitness and to develop skills that they will have for life!
